Studio Info Click here to read about the 11 Mistakes Most Seniors Make That Ruin Their Senior Portraits Your portraits just won't be as good as they should be unless you bring the right clothing. So we have prepared some suggestions for you to make sure you are prepared to create the best senior portraits. Clothing... You should avoid stripes and plaids. Solids photograph much
better! Please bring a variety of color, make sure your clothing choices aren't
all the same basic colors. You should avoid clothing that has words on it
unless it is your school's logo. Vary the style and dressiness of your
choices. For example, bring a formal dress and old blue jeans. Always bring
more than you think you will need... that way we have more to chose from. It is
best to transport your clothing on hangers and have them ironed beforehand.
Wrinkles don't look good in your portraits. Don't forget to bring long sleeve
or winter clothing. Even though we may be doing photos in the summer, if you
have a favorite coat or long sleeve sweater, bring them. They will look great
in your portraits! Props... Bring em! What are you in to? Music, sports, paintball, or
your vehicle... don't forget to bring them and any ideas you have for
portraits. This is how we make your senior portraits about you and not just
some random photos. If you have any questions or ideas about a particular prop,
just call us... 540-365-3190. Makeup... Makeup should be as you normally wear it or slightly heavier. Don't worry about covering zits because we do retouching to all the portraits at no extra charge. Avoid makeup that sparkles, in photos the sparkles show up as white dots that are not flattering and are difficult to retouch. Hair... Avoid changing your hair style or having it cut right before your session. Quick easy hair style changes during your session are OK. Bring your hair care tools and products with you if you need them. For our outdoor sessions, the wind may blow your hair around so a quick touch up from time to time with a brush is very helpful. Jewelry... It is best to keep it simple. The attention needs to be on you in your portraits, not big shiny jewelry that will distract from the main subject of the portrait, which is YOU! Glasses... Most glasses glare, some prescriptions more than others. It is a good idea to check with your optometrist to see if you can get a loaner pair of frames without the lenses. Sunburn and Tanning... Tan lines are not attractive in portraits. AVOID SUNBURN or over tanning. Being over tan does not look good in your portraits so try not to overdo it before your session. Pets... Pets are ok as long as they are housebroken. Bring someone to
monitor the pet while we are photographing you. If your pet is hyper or doesn't
do well in strange environments, it might be a good idea to bring someone to
transport the pet home after we have photographed you with the pet. Friends and Parents... Friends or parents are always welcome. You can take a coupe of
shots with a friend, sibling, etc... at no extra charge. Weather for outdoor portraits... If it rains, don't worry, we will simply have to reschedule. Clouds are actually beneficial to making portraits so don't worry about cloudy days. Don't cancel your indoor session because of rain. Finger and Toe Nails... Nails show in the portraits! Many casual shots are done barefoot, so make sure you don't forget about the toes! Avoid bright colors. Natural or basic works best with a variety of outfits. Click here for more information
